Summary

«Another Man's Wife and a Husband Under the Bed» is a story by Fyodor Dostoevsky that describes a situation both comedic and dramatic. The main character, a jealous husband, suspects his wife of infidelity and decides to follow her. He ends up in a house where he believes his wife is meeting her lover. Due to misunderstandings and absurd situations, he finds himself under the bed in a stranger's apartment. It soon becomes clear that he was mistaken, and his wife is not cheating on him at all. The story mocks human weaknesses such as jealousy and suspicion, showing how easily one can end up in a ridiculous situation because of their own fears and prejudices.
