Main Characters and Their Development
- Matilda Wormwood - a young girl with extraordinary intellectual abilities. Despite her family's neglect, Matilda possesses incredible curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. Throughout the book, she learns to manage her abilities and use them to protect her friends and punish unjust adults.

- Miss Honey - Matilda's class teacher, a symbol of kindness and care. She is one of the few adults who truly believes in Matilda's virtues and abilities. Throughout the book, she helps Matilda realize her potential and finds ways to stand up to Trunchbull.
- Harry and Zinnia Wormwood - Matilda's parents. They are completely absorbed in their own interests and pay no attention to their daughter. Harry Wormwood, the father, sells used cars, often using unscrupulous methods. Zinnia Wormwood, the mother, is solely concerned with her appearance and television. Their attitude towards Matilda is revealed as selfish and indifferent.
