Main Characters and Their Development

• James Henry Trotter: The main character of the book, a young boy who lost his parents and lives with two cruel aunts. At the beginning of the story, he is unhappy and lonely, but as the plot unfolds, he becomes brave, resourceful, and gains new friends.
• Aunt Spiker: One of James's cruel aunts. She is harsh, selfish, and lazy. She ultimately meets her end when the giant peach rolls over and crushes her.
• Aunt Sponge: The second cruel aunt of James. She is just as harsh and selfish as Aunt Spiker. She also perishes under the giant peach.
• Old Green Grasshopper: One of James's friends whom he meets inside the giant peach. He is wise and musical, playing the violin.
• Miss Spider: Another friend of James. She is smart and caring, weaving webs for various needs.
• Glowworm: He serves as a source of light inside the peach. Glowworm is kind and always ready to help.
• Earthworm: Initially timid and distrustful, but gradually becomes more confident and friendly.
• Ladybug: Very sweet and kind, she becomes one of James's best friends.
• Silkworm: Hardworking and helpful, he assists in weaving silk ropes for various purposes.
