Main Characters and Their Development

• Renisenb — a young widow who returns to her father's house after her husband's death. Throughout the narrative, she begins to notice changes in her family and uncovers many secrets, leading to her inner growth and realization of her own strength and independence.
• Imhotep — Renisenb's father, a priest and the head of the family. His return with a new concubine, Nofret, causes tension and conflicts within the family. His character is revealed as despotic and selfish.
• Nofret — a young and beautiful concubine of Imhotep, whose arrival in the house sparks jealousy and hatred among family members. Her death becomes a catalyst for subsequent events and the revelation of the true nature of the characters.
• Hori — the steward of Imhotep's estate, a wise and loyal man. He plays a crucial role in the murder investigation and in supporting Renisenb.
• Yahmose — Imhotep's eldest son, who feels slighted by Nofret's arrival. His character is revealed as ambitious and jealous.
• Satipy — Yahmose's wife, who also harbors hatred towards Nofret. Her character is revealed as cruel and vengeful.
• Kameni — a scribe and Renisenb's love interest. His character is revealed as kind and honest, helping Renisenb in her quest for the truth.
