Main Characters and Their Development

• Carlos Castaneda - the main character and narrator, an anthropologist studying magical practices with don Juan and his students. In this book, he faces new challenges and learns to interact with don Juan's female students.
• La Gorda - one of don Juan's students, possessing strong magical abilities. She becomes an important mentor for Carlos and helps him understand new aspects of the magical world.
