Main Characters and Their Development

• Carlos Castaneda — the main character and narrator, an anthropologist studying shamanic practices with don Juan. Throughout the book, he undergoes profound internal changes, mastering new levels of perception and understanding of the world.
• Don Juan Matus — an Indian shaman and Carlos's mentor, who teaches him ancient knowledge and practices. Don Juan serves as a guide into the world of magic and power, helping Carlos overcome his fears and limitations.
• Don Genaro — a friend and ally of don Juan, also a shaman, who plays an important role in Carlos's training. He demonstrates extraordinary abilities and helps Carlos expand his perception of reality.
