Main Characters and Their Development

• Tikhon Krasov — one of the main characters, a peasant striving for a better life but facing difficulties and disappointments. His character evolves from ambitious and energetic to disillusioned and subdued.
• Kuzma Krasov — Tikhon's brother, more grounded and less ambitious. He accepts his fate and tries to survive in the harsh conditions of village life. His development shows resilience and acceptance in the face of life's challenges.
• Luka Krasov — the father of Tikhon and Kuzma, an old peasant who embodies traditional values and the way of village life. His character remains stable throughout the work, representing the constancy and conservatism of the older generation.
