Main Characters and Their Development

• Robert Langdon - a Harvard University professor and symbology expert. At the beginning of the book, he wakes up in a hospital in Florence, not remembering how he got there. As the plot unfolds, he gradually regains his memory and uncovers a conspiracy involving biological weapons.
• Sienna Brooks - a doctor who helps Langdon escape from the hospital. As the story progresses, it is revealed that she has her own hidden motives and is closely connected to the antagonist.
• Bertrand Zobrist - a brilliant geneticist and the book's antagonist. He creates a virus to solve the planet's overpopulation problem. His ideas and actions raise numerous ethical questions.
• Elizabeth Sinskey - the head of the World Health Organization. She plays a key role in the efforts to stop Zobrist and his plans.
• Vayentha - an agent of the World Health Organization who assists Langdon and Sinskey in their investigation.
