Main Characters and Their Development

  • Martin Keller is a man of cold reason and an unquenchable thirst for power, whose enterprise borders on madness. His path is one of obsession, where moral principles give way to greed and calculation. Keller appears to the reader as the embodiment of human avarice, capable of subjugating not only people but nature itself. His inner transformation is the tragedy of a personality that has lost its connection to humanity for the sake of illusory might.
  • Jean Jacques Carr is a scientist whose obsession with science and the pursuit of truth collides with the soulless world of capital. His character is filled with an inner struggle between his duty to humanity and the temptation of fame. Carr embodies the tragic rift between science and conscience, between the dream of progress and the reality where discoveries become weapons.
  • Frank is Keller’s loyal companion, a man whose fate is closely intertwined with that of the protagonist. His development is a journey from blind obedience to the awakening of conscience, from the role of a silent executor to the realization of his own responsibility for what is happening.
