Main Characters and Their Development

• Andrew Harlan: The main character of the book, an Eternal, and a time specialist. He undergoes significant development, starting as a devoted follower of Eternity and its principles, but gradually begins to question its methods and goals. His love for Noÿs Lambent becomes the catalyst for his transformation and leads to his decision to dismantle Eternity for the sake of humanity.
• Noÿs Lambent: A woman from time whom Harlan falls in love with. Her mystery and connection to the future play a key role in the plot. She helps Harlan understand the true nature of Eternity and its impact on humanity.
• Laban Twissell: Senior Programmer of Eternity, Harlan's mentor. He embodies the ideals and goals of Eternity, but his methods and decisions often raise questions for Harlan. Twissell plays an important role in the plot, guiding and controlling Harlan's actions.
• Fingal: A young Eternal, Harlan's apprentice. His naivety and thirst for knowledge contrast with Harlan's cynicism and experience. Fingal represents a new generation of Eternals who have yet to fully grasp all aspects of their work and its consequences.
