Main Characters and Their Development

• Holly Kennedy: The main character of the book, who is dealing with the death of her husband Gerry. At the beginning of the book, Holly is in deep depression, but gradually, thanks to the letters Gerry left her, she begins to find the strength to live on. The letters help her cope with grief and find new goals in life.
• Gerry Kennedy: Holly's husband, who dies from a brain tumor. Before his death, he writes a series of letters that help Holly deal with her loss. Although Gerry is physically absent for most of the book, his letters play a key role in the plot and in Holly's life.
• Sharon: Holly's best friend, who supports her during tough times. Sharon helps Holly cope with her grief and is always there when she needs help.
• Daniel Connelly: A new friend of Holly's who becomes her support and potential romantic interest. Daniel helps Holly see that life goes on and that she can be happy again.
• Denise Hennessey: A friend of Holly's who also provides her with support. Denise helps Holly return to normal life and find new interests.
• Richard Kennedy: Holly's brother, who initially seems cold and distant but later shows his care and support. Richard helps Holly on her path to recovery.
